If you share your photography or graphics online, a watermark keeps your name on the work even after it's downloaded, screenshotted or reposted.
How to add one
- Open Add Watermark to Image and add your photo.
- Type your watermark text and set its position and opacity.
- Download the watermarked image.
Getting the balance right
A watermark that's too faint is easy to crop or clone out; one that's too heavy ruins the image. The usual compromise is a semi-transparent mark placed across the middle of the photo — where it can't simply be cropped off — rather than tucked in a corner.
Turn the opacity down for a subtle mark, up for an unmissable one. Always keep an unwatermarked original for your own use, since the watermark becomes part of the pixels once applied.
Before you post
If the photo was taken on a phone, consider also removing its EXIF data so you're not sharing the location along with the image. Both tools run in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
