JPG (JPEG)
JPG is the most common photo format — small files with good quality, using lossy compression.
PNG (Portable Network Graphics)
PNG is a lossless image format that supports transparency — ideal for logos, icons and screenshots.
WebP
WebP is a modern image format from Google that gives smaller files at the same quality as JPG or PNG.
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Format)
HEIC is the format iPhones use to save photos — smaller than JPG, but not supported everywhere.
Image Compression
Image compression shrinks an image's file size, either losslessly or by discarding fine detail (lossy).
Transparent Background
A transparent background lets an image sit on any colour or photo with no visible box around it.
OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
OCR reads text from a photo or screenshot and turns it into real, editable, searchable text.
