Which format to pick
WebP gives the smallest files and supports transparency — the best choice for websites; in our test a 532 KB JPG became a 360 KB WebP that looks the same. JPG is the most compatible for photos you'll email or upload to forms. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency — right for logos, screenshots and images with text, but large for photos. Converting a photo from JPG to PNG doesn't improve its quality; it only makes the file bigger.

Will converting lose quality?
