What EXIF actually contains
EXIF can include GPS latitude and longitude, the date and time, the camera or phone model, lens and exposure settings, and sometimes editing history. Social platforms strip some of it, but not always, and files shared directly (email, chat, marketplace) usually keep everything. Re-encoding the image discards all of it in one pass.
